Zoní Beach: Culebra's “let’s keep it a secret” Beach

Imagine waking up to the soft glow of the sun painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. The gentle lapping of waves against the shore lulls you into a peaceful state. This is Zoní Beach, Culebra's hidden treasure, offering a serene escape and breathtaking views. Zoní is known for its amazing sunrises. Depending on the solstice season, the sun may rise directly from the water or just behind Culebrita Island's historic lighthouse, offering an incredible opportunity for the perfect photo.

As the sun rises over Zoní Beach, the sky is painted in hues of orange and pink, creating a magical atmosphere. Grab a blanket, find a cozy spot, and enjoy a peaceful morning watching the sun rise over the calm waters. As the day progresses, you can relax under the shade of sea grape vines, and the shadows of the palm trees or sunbathe responsibly.

Unlike the more popular Flamenco Beach, Zoní boasts a quieter, more intimate atmosphere. Its pristine white sands and clear waters invite you to relax and unwind.

One of Zoní's most captivating features is its stunning views of Culebrita Island, a smaller, uninhabited island just offshore. While Zoní Beach isn't the best spot for snorkeling or paddleboarding, its peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect beach for relaxation and sunbathing. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the shore, build sandcastles, or simply soak up the tranquility you can breathe in Zoní.

The journey to Zoní is as rewarding as the destination. As you drive along the northeastern coast, marvel at the stunning scenery, including the National Wildlife Refuge and panoramic views of St. Thomas. Make a stop for a peaceful moment by the Ensenada Honda Boardwalk or visit the historic El Polvorín museum to learn about Culebra's past.

Remember:

  • Pack essentials: Bring snacks, drinks, and a trash bag to keep the beach clean.

  • Respect wildlife: Be mindful of turtle nesting areas and avoid disturbing the ecosystem. Respect any marked areas and avoid disturbing these gentle creatures during nesting season.

  • Plan your visit: Consider renting a car as public transportation options may be limited.

Zoní is and has always been our favorite beach and for many, it is also. Please love it as much as we do, keep it clean, and make beautiful memories with your loved ones at Zoní.
