Culebra Island Beaches

Let's make it easy. Click on the Beach you want to visit, follow directions and enjoy.

FLAMENCO BEACH

Considered one of the top 10 beaches in the world, Flamenco Beach will undoubtedly leave you breathless. Once a Military Practice Zone, it now stands as a serene paradise, with two war tanks remaining on its shore—a poignant reminder of its darker past. In 1971, the people of Culebra took a stand, entering the practice range and compelling all military exercises to cease until the island was finally free of military presence in 1975. Today, Flamenco Beach beckons with pristine waters, vibrant corals, and awe-inspiring views, making it an absolute must-see.

ZONÍ BEACH

Loved by many, Zoní Beach is the perfect spot to witness the sunrise, with Culebrita Island and the Historical Lighthouse providing a breathtaking backdrop. While it may not be suitable for swimming or snorkeling, Zoni Beach plays a crucial role in the circle of life: it’s a nesting ground for turtles during certain seasons. Picture this: the soft sand underfoot, the first rays of dawn touching the horizon, and the rhythmic sound of waves. It’s a place to unwind, connect with nature, and simply be.

Practical tips for your Zoní Beach adventure:

Pack Your Essentials:

Since it’s a bit distant from town, bring along your snacks and liquids. Trust me, a granola bar and a bottle of water can make all the difference when you’re soaking in the tranquility.

Leave No Trace:

Mother Nature appreciates responsible visitors! Even if you spot a garbage bin, consider taking your trash with you. Sometimes those bins play hide-and-seek with the cleanup crew, and we want to keep Zoní pristine.

TAMARINDO BEACH

Facing west and cradled near Cayo Luis Peña, Tamarindo Beach claims its rightful place as the ultimate nature retreat.

A Natural Sanctuary:

  • Tamarindo nestles right in front of the Luis Paña Canal Natural Reserve. Imagine a haven where fishing lines remain coiled, and anchors rest undisturbed. Here, the ecosystem thrives, unencumbered by human interference.

  • No fishing nets disrupt the water’s rhythm, and no motorboats shatter the tranquility. It’s a testament to our commitment to preservation.

Marine Wonders Await:

  • Sea turtles, and ancient mariners, grace these shores. They choose Tamarindo for their nesting rituals—the delicate dance of life continuing against the backdrop of sunsets and tides.

  • Rays—those winged ballet dancers of the sea—gracefully skim the shallows. Their silhouettes against the horizon evoke wonder.

  • And the marine wildlife? They’re the heartbeat of this place—the schools of fish, the elusive crustaceans, and the kaleidoscope of colors beneath the waves.

Guidelines for Responsible Visitors:

  • Rule one: Admire, but don’t touch. The aquatic life here follows its own rhythm. Coral reefs, ancient and fragile, deserve reverence.

  • Rule two: Leave no trace. As the sun dips below the horizon, gather your memories and your trash. Tamarindo’s beauty is delicate; let’s keep it pristine.

  • And those sunset dips? They’re pure magic. Imagine wading into warm waters, the sky ablaze with hues of orange and pink—a canvas painted just for you.

So, fellow beach enthusiasts, embrace Tamarindo’s serenity. As you leave, take with you only the echoes of waves and the promise to protect this slice of paradise.

Have you ever witnessed a Tamarindo sunset? If you haven't,  please do so. You will not regret it.

EL MUELLECITO

At the far end of Flamenco Beach lies El Muellecito, affectionately known as “Little Pier.” This area is an idyllic spot for families to unwind. Here are the details:

Family-Friendly Vibes:

  • El Muellecito welcomes everyone—from toddlers to grandparents. Kids, especially, adore the shallow waters. Imagine their laughter as they splash and play.

  • The waves here are usually gentle—like a lullaby for the shoreline. It’s the perfect place to set up your beach chair, soak in the sun, and watch the world go by.

Snorkeling Adventures:

  • If you’re feeling adventurous, grab your snorkel gear! The nearby reef invites you to explore its underwater wonders.

  • But remember: Treat the coral like a delicate treasure. Admire it from a respectful distance, but please refrain from touching or disturbing it. Coral reefs are the architects of marine life—they deserve our care.

Leave No Trace:

  • As the sun sets, gather your memories and your trash. El Muellecito’s beauty is a shared responsibility. Even if you spot a trash bin, consider taking your trash with you. Let’s keep this slice of paradise pristine.

So, whether you’re building sandcastles with the little ones or snorkeling alongside colorful fish, El Muellecito promises moments of serenity and connection.
